  • Ability to arouse readers’ interest (30%)

  • Fluency; written quality (grammar, vocabulary, sentence structure, etc.) (15%)

Terms & Condition:

  • Participants must specify their entry group and submit all entries by 7 May 2023 (23:59) All submissions received after this date will not be considered.
  • All entries must be original work of students who are the sole authors. The entries should not have been published in any format or media. Plagiarised, translated, previously-published, award-winning, co-authored submissions will not be accepted and will result in disqualification of the entrant and possibly the school. Award-winning entries found with the above terms will result in the return of all prizes, trophies, certificates, and a written apology.
  • Entries that exceed the specified word limit will be disqualified.
  • No entry fee is required. Entries are required to be submitted online. To avoid submission failure due to congested network traffic, participants are advised to submit early.
  • For a school submission, all entries must be submitted together with a School Enrolment Form and stamped with the school chop in color. Only these entries will be eligible for the school award.
  • The school with the highest number of entries submitted using the School Submission Form (for school use only) will also be awarded.
  • The final results will be announced in May 2023 on https://topick.hket.com/ Only the winners will be notified by email and phone.
  • The decision of the panel of judges is final and is not subject to appeal.
  • Staff and relatives of TOPick cannot join the competition.
  • The Hong Kong Economic Times Limited and TOPick reserves the right to decline any entry not meeting the guidelines. Students are suggested to check the entries for any mistakes and missing words.
  • The Hong Kong Economic Times Limited and TOPick retains the copyright to all the writings received for the competition.
  • The Hong Kong Economic Times Limited and TOPick retain the rights to publish and distribute all entries, and reserve the rights to use the entries for promotion and any other purposes deemed necessary. Participants shall not have any right to edit, modify, object or request the take down of, and shall not have any intellectual property rights or interest.
  • The Hong Kong Economic Times Limited and TOPick has the final decision on all details related to the competition, and reserves the right to revise the details without prior announcement.
